Testing Your Payment Connection

Test Connection calls your provider's own verify-credentials endpoint — it checks against the keys you've already saved, not whatever is currently typed into the form.

Steps

01

Go to School → Payments.

02

Make sure your keys are saved first — save any pending changes before testing.

03

Choose Test Connection.

04

Wait for the result: either a verified status with a timestamp, or an error explaining what the provider rejected.

Gotchas

Test Connection checks the SAVED keys, not whatever you've just typed into the field but haven't saved yet. If you change a key and immediately test without saving first, you're testing the old key.

Rotating a key always resets verification — if you've just rotated a key, you need to run this again even if nothing else changed. See Rotating Your Paystack API Keys.
