Setting Up Boarding, Allowances, and Other Non-Standard Fees
Fees101 has no fixed list of fee types and no separate "boarding school mode." A fee item's name is free text — whatever you type is what parents see — so boarding fees, allowances, uniforms, and excursions are all set up the exact same way as tuition, through the regular fee structure.
Setting one up
Create it like any other fee item — name it exactly what it is ("Boarding Fee", "Feeding Allowance", "Excursion — SS2"), choose which class or classes it applies to, and set whether it's required or optional (see Making a Fee Optional). A boarding school typically sets boarding-related fees as optional, opted into only by the students who actually board, while day-student-only fees stay required for everyone else.
There's nothing to configure beyond the standard fields (billing frequency, per-class targeting, optional flag) — a boarding fee is handled by Fees101 exactly the same way a tuition fee is, just with a different name and a narrower opt-in list.
A charge for just one student
For a fine, a replacement book or damaged property, open the student's profile and click Add a charge under One-off charges. Type what it's for, the amount and a reason. It goes on their invoice as its own line and doesn't repeat next term.
