Connecting a Card Terminal

Terminal support is Paystack-only. The physical device is bought from Paystack's terminal store under your school's own Paystack account, not from inside Fees101 (see Ordering a Paystack Terminal). Once it arrives, Fees101 finds it automatically.

Before you register

Not ordered yet? Ordering a Paystack Terminal

Paystack charges its own fee on each terminal payment (lower for card than for USSD or transfer). Your school pays this fee; Fees101 still credits the invoice in full.

Paystack treats a terminal that is not used for two weeks as inactive, and it can then stop taking payments. Register it and take a first payment soon after it arrives.

Registering it in Fees101

01

Make sure the terminal has arrived and has been set up on your Paystack account.

02In Fees101, go to School → Payments.

A Terminals section appears further down this same page — it's not a separate settings page, and it only appears once your provider is set to Paystack and saved (it stays hidden for Monnify).

03Choose Refresh from Paystack.

This discovers and registers your devices automatically — label, serial number, status, and last-seen time all populate from Paystack.

Renaming a terminal

Terminals can be renamed from this panel. The rename is cosmetic — it's a local label only inside Fees101, and doesn't change anything on the device or on Paystack's side. Useful for telling two terminals apart by location ("Front desk" vs "Admin office"), for example.

Permissions

Registering and renaming devices here requires Manage Payment Config. Actually taking a payment on a registered terminal is a separate permission — see Taking a Payment on a Terminal.
