Setting a Different Fee Per Class or Grade

Fees101 supports two different flavors of "fee that varies by class," and it's worth knowing which one you actually need before you start.

Option 1: one amount, across a set of classes

Use this when a group of classes should all pay exactly the same amount, but not the whole school — for example, a uniform fee that only applies to Primary classes.

01

Go to Fees → Structure and choose Add fee item.

02

Enter the fee name and the single amount.

03

Select the specific classes this amount applies to (instead of all-school).

04

Save.

Option 2: a different amount per class (the "matrix" model)

Use this when tuition genuinely differs by class or grade — for example, Tuition at ₦142,000 for Primary classes and ₦248,000 for Senior Secondary classes. Instead of creating separate fee items one at a time, you set every amount in one go, and Fees101 saves them as one fee group sharing the same name.

01

Go to Fees → Structure and choose Add per-class fee item.

02

Enter the fee name.

03

Select every class this fee applies to.

04

Enter the amount for each selected class individually.

05

Save.

Every selected class must resolve to an amount greater than zero — you can't save a per-class fee with a blank or zero amount for one of the classes you picked.

Editing a fee group afterwards

Once a fee exists across multiple classes as a group, Edit Fee Group lets you rename it, change amounts, add or drop classes, and switch its discountable flag or billing frequency — all as one diff-and-save operation, rather than editing each class's row separately.
