Connecting Your Paystack or Monnify Account

Fees101 doesn't move money itself — it connects to a payment provider (Paystack or Monnify) that you control, and Fees101 uses your API keys to create virtual accounts and verify payments on your behalf. We support both, and recommend Paystack, which also has the card terminal and the webhook test.

Steps

01

Go to School → Payments.

02Next to "Provider," click CHANGE.

Choose Monnify (you'll also need a contract code from Monnify) or Paystack (no contract code needed), set the environment (Test or Live), and save — this is a separate action from entering your keys, not the same form.

03Next to "API keys," click ROTATE.

This is where you actually paste your public/API key and secret key from that provider's dashboard.

04Click Save on the API keys panel.

A "Test connection" button sits right on this same panel, so you can verify the keys work before closing it.

Rules the key fields enforce

  • A Paystack public key must start with pk_live_ or pk_test_, and the secret key with sk_live_ or sk_test_. Fees101 rejects a mismatched pair (e.g. a live public key with a test secret key).
  • Pasting a Paystack-shaped key while Monnify is the selected provider is rejected outright.
  • There's no separate live/test toggle — whether you're in live or test mode is derived entirely from which kind of key you paste in.
  • Leaving a key field blank when saving means "keep the existing key" — keys are never shown back to you once saved, only a status of Saved · not verified or Valid · verified [date].

Gotchas

Changing provider later does NOT move existing students' virtual accounts over to the new provider. Any student who already has an account under the old provider keeps that account; switching providers only affects accounts created going forward.
