Editing a Student's Record (Name, Class, Admission Details)

A student's name, admission number, class, and admission date are all editable from their profile. Status (active/withdrawn/graduated) is a separate action — see Changing a Student's Status.

Steps

01

Open the student's profile from the Students list.

02

Find the Record panel and select Edit.

03

Change the name, admission number, class, and/or admission date as needed.

04

Save.

What happens when you change a student's class

Moving a student to a different class can change what they owe this term, since fees are often set per class or per grade. Fees101 checks the current-term invoice before letting the change through:

  • If the invoice is still "clean" — no payment or credit applied yet — you're shown the before-and-after totals, and the invoice is recomputed automatically on confirm.
  • If money has already moved against that invoice (a payment, a credit), the change still goes through, but the invoice is flagged needs_review instead of silently recomputing — a staff member needs to look at it and decide how to handle the difference.

Gotchas

Status isn't editable from this panel. To withdraw, graduate, or reactivate a student, use the separate status action on their profile — see Changing a Student's Status.
